Ceramics
In the summer of 2018 I began learning to work with clay. This gallery is a partial catalog, in chronological order, of what I have produced since then.
(Unless otherwise indicated, all pieces were wheel-thrown from a dark-firing stoneware clay and reduction-fired to cone 10 in a gas kiln.)

Tiki bell (September 2018)
8" H. The first assignment for my first ceramics class with Kaori Fujitani at Paradise Valley Community College was to make something related to the concept of "tiki." This was the result: built from slabs of clay, carved, painted, and dipped in clear glaze. A wooden ball hangs from a string inside it, and it does actually function as a bell, although the slabs are so thick that the sound is more "klong" than "ding."
